I dream with open eyes,
Butterflies, fireflies, sunsets’ gleam,
All that I once despised,
A perfect hell it doth now seem
Where I rend my skin
Toward blackened streams,
I sketch the stars I’ve seen
And strange sailing dreams.
They smile as if they knew
I trustn’t Cerberus true
And I feign to care,
I feign to matter,
Re-read letters anew,
Those yet to pen, t’be fair.
I have learned to forget
The act of smiling wide,
With a journey homeward set
And flowers for my stone’s sight
Without a pulse in vein,
Without pity’s pain.
